BREAKING NEWS: Mombasa Old Town, Eastleigh Locked Down.

Health Cabinet secretary, Mutahi Kagwe, announced that the government has recommended that in order to contain the spread of corona virus in Mombasa old town and Eastleigh in Nairobi, further containment measures will be placed.

Following rule three of the public health of covid-19, restriction of movement of persons and related measures rule 2020, legal notice 50, the ministry of health and that of interior coordination of national government have directed as follows;

There will be restriction of movements within the areas of Old Town Mombasa and Eastleigh Nairobi effective today 6th of May 2020, at 7 PM, for the next 15 days.

There will also be closure of markets places any restaurant and eateries within the two marked areas, Old Town in Mombasa and Eastleigh in Nairobi, starting today 6th of May 2020, at 6 PM.

All public transportation vehicles, are banned from accessing Old Town in Mombasa and Eastleigh Nairobi.

The government decided to lock down the two above areas, after 47 new cases of corona virus were announced. 32 are from Mombasa, 18 of them from the Old Town.

Out of the 11 cases in Nairobi, 5 of them are reported to be from areas of Eastleigh. Other cases were 2 from Busia, 1 from Kwale and Kiambu 1

This brings the number of cases in Kenya as of today, 6th of May 2020, to 581.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe says that 8 more people have been discharged after recovering fully. The total number of recoveries now stands at 190.

Covid-19 death-toll in Kenya has rise to 26, after two more people from Mombasa, succumb to the virus at home.

The government have also announced that the cost of quarantine will be sorted by the government, therefore, no one is expected to pay for it. This is expected to encourage more more to go for testing.

Kenyans in the whole country are also urged not to break the curfew laws as more severe actions will be taken against anybody found.
