CS Margaret Kobia Find Herself In Trouble Trying To Protect Ann Waiguru.

Cabinet secretary for Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, Margaret Kobia find herself between a hard rock and hard place while she was trying to protect embattled Kirinyaga county governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru.

According to Margaret Kobia, the impeachment of governor Ann Waiguru was illegal, saying that it is an indication that some people (Kirinyaga county MCAs), do not value women in leadership.

“It is unfortunate that governor Ann Waiguru’s term is being cut short by an impeachment. This is an indicator that some of us do not value strong women leadership”. Said Margaret Kobia.

Margaret Kobia further stated that she was disappointed more following the fact that Ann Waiguru was impeached at a time when the whole country is struggling to fight corona virus, which is affecting the economy of Kenya.

“We are disappointed that the governor is being impeached during the fight against corona virus which is negatively impacting on social economic development of the country” She added.

This statement by Margaret Kobia angers many Kenyans and even leaders who question how the cabinet secretary now has energy to speak, protecting Ann Waiguru as a woman, yet she never say anything when other Women in the country were discriminated.

They gave an example of Kariobangi and Ruai where women and children were ruthlessly evicted in the middle of the night with nowhere to go, and corona was there, but not even Margaret Kobia came out to speak about the same.

Kirinyaga governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru is among the only three women governors who were elected into office during the 2017 general elections.

One of the was the late Bomet county governor Joyce Laboso who passed away last year 2019, and was replaced by her then deputy, Dr. Hillary Barchok.

If the senate will not save Ann Waiguru, then Kitui county governor Hon. Charity Ngilu will be the only woman governor in Kenya.
