BREAKING NEWS: Gov. Waiguru Cleared By The Senate Special Committee.

Kirinyaga governor Ann Mumbi Waiguru is reported to have survived the impeachment ax after the majority of the eleven senators in the special committee concluded that there was no enough enough evidence linking the governor to the abuse of office and corruption as alleged by some of the Kirinyaga county MCAs.

Citizen TV reported that one of their sources in the special committee reveals that the evidence provided on the procurement allegations by the accusers, did not clearly show how governor Ann Waiguru benefited from the multi millions tenders transactions.

Citizen TV further reported that the special senate committee handling the case has recommended that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), be involved in the case to help the committee dig further into the case.

With DCI and the EACC coming in as ex-officio members to guide members further on the case, the special committee has further recommended additional time for the committees

The source further reveal to Citizen TV that some of the allegations against governor Ann Waiguru  did not meet the threshold to remove the governor from the office through an impeachment.

Governor Ann Waiguru had told the committee that most the of the challenges she is facing as the governor is not based on the allegations, but because of her strong support to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and the famous Handshake between president Uhuru Kenyatta and former prime minister Raila Odinga.

According to Ann Waiguru, her support for BBI and the Handshake, has earned her more political enemies who are not fighting her through the MCAs.

The senate special committee led by Kakamega senator Cleophas Malala, is expected to present their findings and the conclusions in the senate on Friday 26th of June 2020, at 2:30 PM as per the gazette notice from the senate speaker.
