Gikomba Market Fire Take a New Twist, As Jaguar Reveal Suspects.

Gikomba Market Fire Take a New Twist, As Jaguar Reveal Suspects.

Fire incident that was recently reported in Gikomba Market, is now turning out to be a different story after story after stalls that were reconstructed by the traders after the fire in the market, were allegedly demolished again by the National Youth Service (NYS) recruits.

According to Starehe Member of Parliament, Hon Jaguar, General Service Unit Officers (GSU), were providing security for the NYS recruits, as they carry on the demolition.

Hon Jaguar question how the government can send the NYS recruits to demolished the stalls, adding more pain to the traders who are already counting loses.

According to the Starehe Member of Parliament, the exercise might be an indication that the government might have been involved in the recent fire.

“NYS recruits are in Gikomba right now. They are demolishing stalls that traders had reconstructed after a mysterious fire razed them on Thursday morning.” Hon Jaguar stated.

“GSU officers are also there protecting the recruits. Is this exercise a sign that the government was involved in the recent fire?”

“Interior PS Karanja Kibicho accompanied by NMS Director-General Badi had promised Ksh. 10,000 compensation for each trader who had lost property during the inferno.”

“He did not say anything about the demolition of the reconstructed stalls. These actions are therefore suspect and insensitive”.

” I ask for an immediate halt to this exercise. NYS recruits should go home. Any security officer present in Gikomba should be there to guard the reconstructed stalls and other properties owned by traders. It should not oversee it’s deconstruction” Jaguar added.
