Private School Teachers Now Want Be Listed As Vulnerable By Government

Private school owners in Uasin Gishu have called on the National government to list teachers from the private sector among vulnerable groups in the fight against covid-19 and give them some grants.
The owners led by Dr Dorice Khatete of Eldo Baraka School in Eldoret said the closure of schools has negatively impacted private schools who have gone for months without payment.
Dr Khatete said private schools fully depend on the operations to generate revenue to meet teachers’ salaries and other operational costs.
Private School Teachers Now Want Be Listed As Vulnerable By Government
Speaking while giving food donations to more than 40 teachers and subordinate staff from her school she said the majority of the teachers are living in pathetic state due to lack of salary to sustain them since March when the government ordered the closure of all learning institutions.
This comes when the government has announced to pay salaries to all teachers and non-teaching staff employed by Public schools board of management in both primary and secondary schools to cushion them against hard economic times emanating from the impact of Coronavirus.
