Masinga Mechanic Innovates and Gifts Cobbler Motorized Tricycle Ideal for Movement

Samuel Mutua, a cobbler at Kithyoko market in Masinga sub county, Machakos who has lived with disability all his life was lucky to be granted a motorized tricycle by a local mechanic.

Mutual, who is now 61 years of age has been coming to his place of work, three kilometers from his home through the assistance of his wife.

The old man’s wife who is blind initially pushed Mutua’s tricycle from their home to his leather job but he was happy to receive the new motorized one which is easier to operate and he does not need the effort of his wife to get to work.

Delighted Mutua said he has been crippled from his early months into life after he suffered polio and failed to get the necessary immunization leading to paralysis of his two legs.

The father of seven said during times when his wife was unwell, he could not make it to work for he had no one to push him to work.

Before he was given the tricycle he initially used that was donated to him by a local Bishop, Mutua crawled to his leather work hustle.

The cobbler who could hardly hide joy from his face after the donation thanked the local mechanic stating God had used him to save him from his sufferings.

Muthui Kituva, the mechanic who donated the motorized tricycle said he has always had love for disabled and has always been yearning to help where he can.

Kituva said it pained him seeing how the cobbler suffered to get to work assisted by his blind wife.
Kituva said the innovated tricycle costed him 80,000 shillings but could have costed him more if he had not used locally made materials.
