SPEAKER WEST POKOT AND MCA SAY THEY FEAR FOR THEIR LIVES AS THEY RECORD STATEMENTS AT KAPENGURIA POLICE STATION

West pokot County Assembly speaker Ms Catherine Mukenyang and a  nominated member of County Assembly Mr. Elijah Kasheusheu   now  claim   that their lives are  in danger  after   alleging threats  from  area Governor Prof John Lonyangapuo.

The two  have recorded   statements to the Police,  accusing the County boss over having a scheme to eliminate them.

This comes after four KANU female MCAs were expelled from the party over failing to remit their monthly subscription fee, failure to adhere to the party’s loyalty pledge, the code of conduct and inability to defend and promote the party while serving at the assembly.

While addressing the press  outside Kapenguria police station after recording their statements they said that they are now living in fear.

Speaker Mukenyang claimed that Governor Lonyangapuo has threatened her four times now in the Pokot native language.

She claimed that  Lonyangapuo has been behind all the woes facing members of the County assembly who have missed their salaries now for three months.

She said that the Governor confiscated some County assembly vehicles to curtail her office operations accusing him for bringing divisions among members of the County assembly .

The speaker  who said that she  is not safe and secure cited that she  witnessed  when the County boss was threatening and pointing at   MCA  Kasheusheu  during a burial in Tapach Pokot south.

She dismissed allegations that she was among the masterminds   for  the expulsion of four female nominated MCAS in the County.

Nominated MCA Elijah  Kasheusheu  who burst  into  tears    while addressing the press  faulted   Lonyangapuo for interfering ,making communications and monitoring his movements  with his family    following his exit from his camp.

Kasheusheu  who is Lonyangapuo’s ally turned foe noted that Lonyangapuo started fighting him after  differing with him politically  and   moved away.

He said that  on Monday ,Governor Lonyangapuo threatened him  while pointing him with a walking stick during a burial at Tapach  after he tried to ask the Governor to  stop insulting him.

 Kasheusheu said that Lonyangapuo  was  using security officers to intimidate him .

He said that he and his family are ready to pay any debt that he owes Lonyangapuo.

Sook  ward MCA Martin Komongiro  accused the Governor for putting the County in the campaign mood .

Former Advisor  to Lonyangapuo Mr. Stephen Kolimuk   said that people are tired with his leadership.

A politician Rev John Lodinyo  accused Lonyangapuo for having ill motive with  leaders who oppose him.

 He dared Lonyangapuo to do anything to the leaders, adding that he has started playing politics early.

However Governor Lonyangapuo dismissed the allegations terming it lies and politics.

The county assembly has been having leadership wrangles since May this year after a section of KANU  MCAs wanted to change the leadership position of the majority leader and chief whip.
