Chaos erupt in UDA’s political rally as brigade unleashes scathing attack on Jubilee leadership

United Democratic Alliance party’s political rally was shortly disrupted after a group of youths engaged Deputy President William Ruto’s supporters in running battles at Mlolongo in Machakos County.

The goons hurled stones at the UDA leaders who were then addressing the public to drum support for their Machakos senatorial by-election candidate Ulburnus Ngengele.

The rally led by the party’s chairman Johnson Muthama was disrupted as the two factions engaged.

Several youths were beaten before the situation normalized.

He said politicians should desist from acts of hooliganism and instead promote democracy through peaceful campaigns during electioneering periods.

Muthama warned that they will deal with those who attempt to disrupt their political rallies accordingly.

The former Machakos senator was accompanied by MPs Victor Munyaka (Machakos), Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East), Vincent Musyoka (Mwala), former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko, former Mombasa senator Hassan Omar, and UDA Machakos senatorial by-election candidate Ulburnus Ngengele.

Sonko said they will provide their youth with hustlers’ helmets in their next rallies in readiness to engage their opponents who attempt to unleash their goons to them as it happened.

He said the Jubilee government should address the issue of political hooliganism to avoid interruption and attacks in rallies across the country.

“Vijana wanarusha mawe kwa rally imejaa watu. We will provide helmets to our youths so that they engage the goons, arrest and surrender to police in our subsequent rallies,” Sonko said.
